Over the years, Dave Oranchak has done some great research into the Zodiac Killer’s ciphers. He’s created two popular cipher analysis web applications (webtoy and cryptoscope) and collected a wealth of information related to the ciphers of the Zodiac Killer.
Recently, he started a new website that provides analysis and discussion regarding the ciphers of the world’s most enigmatic serial killer, as well as consolidated access to Dave’s previous contributions. The new website is:
http://www.zodiackillerciphers.com/
If you’re at all interested in the Zodiac Killer’s ciphers, I encourage you to check it out and spend some time in the various parts of the site. Based on his previous work, he’s already got quite an impressive collection of content. And as we move forward, I’m sure he’ll continue to add to the collection in interesting and meaningful ways.
Thanks for this post, Mike!
Hopefully the new site won’t be too “cryptography heavy” to scare away casual visitors. ๐
You’re welcome. I’m glad you’re continuing to fight the good fight with the ciphers. Maybe one of these days, someone among us will discover that elusive critical insight and break the damn 340!!
I hope so. It would allow so many of us to move on with our lives!
Ain’t that the truth! ๐

can you help me figure out the cypher. it is a review on a musicians album. Thanks!
I can’t really help you out there, except to say that the quotes and the ‘:’ appear to be significant clues.
Good luck…
I ran the cipher through CipherExplorer; here’s what I came up with:
As you can see, G Gluckman was exactly right. And in true Zodiac fashion, the solution has a spelling mistake…
Hope this helps.
Braden
Maybe this will get you started:

Hot dang, Mike!! You’ve cracked it. This is the biggest beak in the case in over 4 decades!
I had wondered if this could be authentic. Notice how the itching and screaming reference resonates with the “little list” letter. I’d like to know Dave-O’s opinion, but I’m convinced.
So, Braden, does your Otto Kinzel POI have a middle name? Three letters, maybe
Damnation! Who’d a thunk it was all about the music all this time?
G
Yeah, I was hoping to see ‘twich’ in the solution; it’s the one word that I suspect the killer may have unintentionally misspelled. But, no such luck.
Anyway, that was a good bit of fun. BTW, how did you figure out the quoted part without the benefit of a cipher-solving tool?
Well, I used the most advanced cipher breaking techniques you can imagine. It’s pretty technical.
I googled the cipher itself. That led to a website that was promoting Otto K’s new album with a cipher challege. Embedded in the cipher challenge was the album title, complete with quotes.
(I wonder why nobody thought of using the same technique back in the 60’s and 70’s.)
;D
G “Googleheimer” Gluckman
Google to the rescue, once again. Well done.
Somehow, I’m starting to feel like we should be charging Otto for our services…
As a matter of fact, Otto has offered to provide some form of recompense to those who can solve the puzzle:
http://yourband.info/index.php?q=otto-kinzel-code
I suggest you claim the prize. Maybe you can re-gift it as a dubie award.
Thanks for the URL, G Gluckman. I submitted the solution. We’ll see what happens…
Of course, once word gets out about this new revelation, poor Lyndon Lafferty is bound to feel a bit silly.
That last post did not take. I got this at http://www.340cipher.com. Is it really this accurate?

Mike,
Whatever came of your prize?

A whole lot of nuthin… I’m still waiting, patiently, for the email, though.
Do you suppose it was just another hoax?
G, you’ve got a bit of an evil streak… ๐
This maybe of interest to you. May help with the Zodiaks ciphors..? Thnx:)
