Count Marco - June 27, 1974

Apple-Pie Nostalgia To Cherish

The nostalgia craze is purported to have been started by the younger generation wanting to have some of the things their parents had. It didn’t take long for the parents themselves to join in remembering the good old days.

As a more constructive bit of nostalgia, how about bringing back the days when a woman could be proud to be a housewife and mother.

How wonderful it would be for the children to return home from school and find mother at the door, smiling and hugging, then taking them into the kitchen where perhaps they’d find freshly baked cookies, bread or a juicy apple pie.

The husband returns and finds his wife busy in the kitchen preparing dinner and he sits there watching and talking about his day.

Then the entire family sits down together. The rest of the evening is spent with the same serenity.

I get nostalgic just thinking about it.

Imagine! Mothers and wives and happy homes again. Start it at your home. Maybe it will spread nationwide.

You’ll never regret it, I guarantee it.

This post is part of a series, Ten Days of Count Marco, which examines the ten Count Marco columns leading up to the July 8, 1974 Count Marco letter.
